Activities carried out in 2010 by the Armenian road police yielded certain results, Chief of Road Police of Armenia Margar Ohanyan told at today’s press conference. As compared to 2009, 36 less death cases and 116 less injuries were registered in the passing year, he added.

“The number of accidents and violations of traffic rules reduced as well. Fees were paid also by drivers smoking at the wheel and those throwing rubbish out of the window,” he noted.

Chief of Road Police also spoke of neglects, stressing that 7 employees were dismissed in 2010. “Another 37 employees of road police paid fines,” he said.

Resuming year’s results, Ohanyan expressed hope that achievements will be preserved in 2011 as well.
