U.S. President Barack Obama appointed Francis Ricciardone U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan. Obama also appointed Ambassadors to Syria and Czech Republic.

As NEWS.am reported previously, Obama appointed Matthew Bryza U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan.

Under U.S. legislation, while the U.S. Senate is in recess the President can act alone by making a recess appointment of Ambassadors.

Taking into account the Senators did not approve the candidates when Obama propsed tjem several months ago, the President used this opportunity.

If the Ambassadors neither are nor approved by U.S. Senate in 2011, they will be forced to leave their posts.
