YEREVAN. – The government has appeared in the same situation as, when in the past, the National Assembly (NA) committees were making rapid changes between the first and the second reading, and the MPs were constantly complaining that they could not manage to express their position.

Artur Hovhannisyan, the First Deputy Minister of  Justice of Armenia, on Tuesday stated the abovementioned at the NA debates on the bill with respect to making amendments to the NA regulations constitutional law.

“It’s about the recommendation submitted by MP Gevorg Petrosyan, when the PM’s elections will be held by the National Assembly for the second time, and on election day the MPs’ [respective] voting will be obstructed, for emergency or [any] other reasons, and the parliament shall be dissolved by virtue of law,” Hovhannisyan noted, in particular.

The deputy minister added that, in actual fact, the decision of this matter is left solely to MPs.

“Many questions remain open by the draft [law],” he concluded. “Our position (...) is negative; we believe that the adjustments are incomplete.”
