A statue of Pharaoh Akhenaten looted from the Cairo museum was returned by an American professor, RIA Novosti reported referring to Al Ahram news website. Other details are not available yet.

The Cairo museum is situated in Tahrir Square, the arena of recent clashes between the authorities and the opposition. The building was robbed, attacked by stones and Molotov cocktails. At the moment the museum is protected by Egypt’s army, NEWSru.com reported.
