French Ambassador to Armenia Jonathan Lacôte on Saturday reflected on the passing of world-renowned French composer and pianist Michel Legrand.

“Today, Michel Legrand’s melodies in Armenia’s cafés and houses will remind that no one here disregards the Armenian origin of this universal artist and each and everyone is proud of his global fame,” Lacôte wrote in a Facebook post. “Tribute to Michel Legrand.”

As reported earlier, Michel Legrand has died at age 87.

His maternal grandfather was of Armenian descent.

Legrand had visited Armenia for the first time in 2004.
