A lifeguard working on Patong Beach in Phuket Island in Thailand won 30 million baht ($ 961,000) in the Thai state lottery, The Thaiger reported.

A thirty-two-year-old Phuket resident Nara Nalack, who has been working as a lifeguard for 15 years at Patong Beach, first bought one lottery ticket last week.

“I don’t usually buy lottery tickets. This time I met the lottery seller that I have known for a long time. I didn’t have any numbers in my mind. I thought 767 is a nice number. So I bought this set. This is the first time that I bought many lottery tickets at one time. Normally I buyt only one ticket not in a set,” he said.

All five winning tickets purchased by Nalack were issued under number 109767. These are five of 12 tickets with number 109767 printed for the lottery draw, which was drawn on April 1. The first prize of the lottery for one winning ticket is 6 million baht (over $192 thousand). After the draw, each ticket with a number that won the first prize becomes a winning one and costs 6 million baht.

“I was very surprised that I won the first prize. I will give money to my father, for my two children’s education, to fix my house and for my family expenses.”

The lottery of Thailand has existed since 1874. It is played out twice a month. Lottery is a state monopoly and one of the few forms of gambling allowed in Thailand.
