The Armenian Democratic Liberal Party (Ramkavar) demands that the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia doesn’t ratify the Istanbul Convention and prohibits any anti-natural gender (sexual) propaganda. This is stated in the political party’s statement.
“For millennia, the nucleus of the Armenian people has been and remains the unity of a strong family, on which the roots and future of its existence are hinged. Traditional family ties and the mutual love and respect of couples are sacred for Armenians. Families with a national image and their children serve as the source of all of the victories and achievements of the Armenian nation. Even today, the Armenian family fully complies with all normal legal relations that have existed between spouses as provided for by the international norms of family law.
Being well aware of the significance and irreplaceable role of a strong and traditional family for the Armenian people and having a deep understanding of the current hazardous provisions of the Istanbul Convention (particularly the introduction of the idea of a third sex, 2001-2019, European Parliament Resolution of 14 February 2019 on the future of the LGBTI List of Actions 2019-2024) and, based on that:
1. the creation of various marital schemes,
2. homosexuality,
3. granting of overriding rights by the State to gender minorities,
4. tolerance for propaganda about the idea of a third sex,
5. subordination of the rights of the majority of the society to the rights of gender minorities,
6. “regulation” of the multiplication of people, etc., we find that such interstate agreements are politically dictated and violate the fundamental human right that has an overriding force.
The Armenian Democratic Liberal Party (Ramkavar) calls on giving a political evaluation of this working style of the former authorities, that is, the initial signing of such an interstate document without public discourse, and demands that the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia doesn’t ratify this act and prohibits any anti-natural gender (sexual) propaganda. At the same time, the Party calls on the Armenian public to join the societies of other countries having rejected the Istanbul Convention, as well as the call-demand of the Party and all other political parties, individuals and the Mother See to not ratify the Istanbul Convention,” the text of the statement reads.
