During its session today, the Government of Armenia decided to defer 22-year-old PhD student Davit Markosyan and 24-year-old PhD student Arman Atanesyan from this year’s summer military draft for compulsory military service as privates.

The rationale of the decision states that Markosyan and Atanesyan are being deferred for having made significant achievements in the fields of education and science.

Davit Markosyan has gotten accepted to the National Agrarian University of Armenia and has been deferred until the end of his studies, that is, the summer military draft in 2021.

Arman Atanesyan, 24, has gotten accepted to the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and has been deferred until the end of his studies, but not more than the day of attaining the age of 26.
