The U.S. has carried out an operation against Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, according to multiple media reports.
Newsweek said that Baghdadi, 48, was dead in the operation in Syria’s north-western Idlib province.
A U.S. official told Reuters that Baghdadi was targeted during the raid, but was unable to say whether the operation was successful.
