YEREVAN. – There are two main issues facing our parliamentary committee. One of them is the harmonization of the laws of the EEU member states within the union, and five years from now we will all be in one economic zone. Mikayel Melkumyan, Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration and MP of the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party, said this at the December 18 press conference in the NA, summing up the results of the work of the aforesaid committee.

He noted that there are still many problems and obstacles that need to be overcome. "There are 71 obstacles within the EEU that we still have to overcome, 51 of which are related to Russia," Melkumyan said, adding that neither the Armenian nor the other parties are pleased with the pace of overcoming those obstacles.

He also noted that the single economic market should be finally formed in 2022-2023, but in fact, it will not be formed before 2025.

The second key issue, as the MP noted, is to increase the level of parliamentary oversight.
