Over 100,000 peaceful civilians killed or wounded in Afghanistan over past decade

Over the past decade, more than 100,000 peaceful civilians have been killed or wounded in Afghanistan. This is what UN Special Representative for Afghanistan Tadamichi Yamamoto declared and called on putting an end to the 18-year bloody conflict, reports AFP.

Earlier this year, the UN had informed that an unprecedented number of peaceful civilians have been killed or wounded in Afghanistan in the period between July 1 and September 30.

Based on the calculations of the United Nations, the past year was the most lethal in history, including 3,804 deaths of peaceful civilians, of which 927 were children.
