The Pentagon chief told CNN he saw no ntelligence data indicating plans by Iranian general Qasem Soleimani to attack US embassies in the Middle East.
The president did not provide concrete evidence, he noted adding there was intelligence about the intention to attack the US embassy in Baghdad.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that Iran had planned to attack four American embassies.
