Police in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh shot and killed a man who held over 20 children in hostage, BBC reported.
Local media identified the man as Subhash Batham. He was accused of murder but out on bail.
One of the villagers tried to start talks with the criminal, but Batham opened fire and wounded him. When Batham's house was surrounded by policemen, he shot at them and threw a hand grenade.
The attacker was killed during a special operation, three law enforcement officers received rhenium.
Children, according to preliminary data, were not injured.
