Democratic presidential billionaire candidates Michael Bloomberg and Tom Steyer spent about $ 389 million last year on the campaign, Reuters reported.
This amount exceeds all the funds spent on the presidential campaign by other candidates from the Democratic Party.
Bloomber launched his presidential campaign in November and spent more than $ 188 million from his own funds.
Steyer, who joined the campaign in July, spent $ 201 million in 2019: he spent most of his own money, and only $ 3 million was donated.
Compared to these two candidates, the amounts spent on the campaign by the rest of the Democratic Party are modest. For example, Senator Bernie Sanders spent $ 90.7 million on his campaign in 2019. And the amount spent by former US Vice President Joe Biden on salaries for members of the campaign headquarters amounted to 11.7 million dollars.
