YEREVAN. – Areg Hovhannisyan, Head of Department of Asia, Pacific Ocean and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia, gave an interview to state-funded Public Television on the situation surrounding the new coronavirus, the MFA informed.
"The agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the Republic of China on visa requirement waiver—on the principle of reciprocity—for persons holding ordinary passports also provides for suspension for some periods in force majeure situations," Hovhannisyan said. "Initially, the issue has been discussed with our Chinese associates, and they will, of course, treat with respect any such decision."
In the context of returning the Armenian citizens from China, the MFA official noted: "We are working with our international partners, we are also working with the Chinese side so that if necessary, it will be possible to organize the people's return."
