YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of Armenia writes: Based on [independent MP] Arman Babajanyan's petition, the SIS [Special Investigation Service] had filed a case against former NA [National Assembly] Speaker Ara Babloyan and former [NA] Deputy Chief of Staff Arsen Babayan, and on 28 October, had filed charges under the [Criminal Code] article on assisting to official fraud and usurpation of the CC [Constitutional Court] powers.
On December 24, the prosecutor's office had returned the case for further investigation without confirming the indictment. At the same time, the decision had stated that the case of the usurpation of power is not substantiated by the presented materials and the accusation of fraud is weak.
We were informed that the SIS has sent the case back to the prosecutor's office without taking any action. Most probably, they are sure that they will pass the charge y force, as [PM] Nikol Pashinyan has already stated that an occupation of the CC has taken place.
