US House speak Nancy Pelosi has ripped up Donald Trump’s State of the Union address behind him after he refused to shake hands.

According to her, “it was the courteous thing to do, considering the alternative.”

However, according to The Guardian, Pelosi ignored the traditional introduction of the president. Instead of saying “Members of Congress, I have the high privilege and distinct honor of presenting to you the President of the United States”, Pelosi simply introduced Trump by saying: “Members of Congress, the President of the United States.” 

Trump’s speech amid the impeachment’s process that the Democrats led by Pelosi has announced. A final vote should be held in the Senate, according to the results of which it will be decided whether the legislators recognize the president guilty or not. Trump is expected to be acquitted.

Trump became the third US president in history to be impeached. Democrats say he delayed congressional support for Ukraine, approved by Congress, demanding in return for political service from President Volodymyr Zelenskyz as an investigation against Trump's opponent Joe Biden.
