YEREVAN. – The closed session of the Council of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia continues today, the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports from parliament.

Yesterday’s session lasted 15 minutes and was postponed for today.

On January 30, the NA official website had published information that NA Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan had made a decision to convene a special NA session on February 6. The agenda of this special session was the discussion of the legislative initiative by majority My Step MP Vahagn Hovakimyan. The bill was aimed at neutralizing the Constitutional Court’s participation in constitutional reforms.

The NA Speaker had made the decision to discuss this draft at the first and second readings at the same time, but he did not have this right. The NA Rules of Procedure stipulate that for the simultaneous first and second reading discussion of a draft law, the respective written proposal of the deputies or factions is necessary, which must be approved at the sitting of the NA Council, which was not done. After this uproar, Mirzoyan had canceled his decision.
