The Digitization Council of Armenia today held its first session chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of Tigran Avinyan, who delivered a speech and particularly said the following:

“Dear colleagues,

I welcome you all to the first session of the Digitization Council.

During the pre-election campaign, we had declared, and have enshrined in the government program that the Armenian government wants to build a technologically developed country rich in innovative solutions, and digitization plays a major role.

The government views digitization, innovation and the latest technologies as a major tool in order to have an effective and participatory public administration system, create a favorable business climate, ensure progressive growth of the economy and provide quality public services to the population.

The government has enshrined specific targets in the areas of management efficiency, technological advancement and digitization, including modernization, digitization and automation of the public administration system; ensuring of evaluation of costs of functions and reforms for reducing costs; ensuring of interoperability and synchronization of state information system; ensuring of information security, cyber security and personal data protection during digitization and more.

Overall, the goals set for digitization and technological advancement are rather pretentious and concern almost all sectors of public administration, local self-governance and economy. Implementation of the specified goals requires coordinated cooperation of departments, and the Digitization Council has been set up exactly for the purpose of harmonizing activities.”

Afterwards, the minister and deputy minister of high technological industry delivered a report on the strategy on digitization and thoroughly touched upon the strategy’s targets and indicators, after which Deputy Head of the State Revenue Committee Mikayel Pashayan presented the roadmap for digitization of gaming in Armenia, that is, the introduction of relevant standards in Armenia and the creation of a monitoring center of the State Revenue Committee.
