YEREVAN. – Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned that the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia has detained the former head of the Yerevan Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee, and within the framework of the criminal case against Vahagn Vermishyan, Chairman of the Urban Development Committee, into taking large-scale bribe.

Within the framework of this criminal case initiated by the NSS, the crime suspects were apprehended, two of them—including the chairman of the aforementioned committee—were detained.

Moreover, while being questioned as a suspect, this bribe-taking official confessed to committing the crime.

The investigation is still in progress.
