The Public Council adjunct to the Minister of Emergency Situations of Armenia today held its first session chaired by Minister Felix Tsolakyan, reports the news service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The Public Council comprises 18 members who are primarily representatives of non-governmental organizations involved in the field of emergency situations.

The items on the agenda were the draft of the law on disaster risk management and protection of the population, as well as the draft of the government decision on establishing the procedure for compensating for damage caused to natural and legal persons as a result of emergency situations.

The Public Council holds its sessions at least once every three months, considers issues related to emergency situations and may adopt advisory decisions after discussions.
