The National Assembly of Armenia is considering the bill on land tax obligations. The bill proposes to make payment of land tax compulsory until full sale of the given property during a specific month. This is what co-author of the bill, deputy of the My Step faction Argishti Mekhakyan declared during a discussion on the bill on making supplements to the law on land tax held as part of the parliamentary session today.
According to him, according to the existing legislation, a seller who hasn’t paid the land tax before selling his or her property and has transferred the property to a new buyer shall not be obliged to notify the latter about the unpaid taxes and debts. “Contracts on alienation often don’t state that the land tax obligations are transferred to the new owner,” Mekhakyan stated, adding that the supposed regulation is envisaged to solve such problems.
