The number of COVID-19 cases in Africa has exceeded 300 thousand, while almost 8 thousand people died, RIA Novosti reported referring to the regional representative of the World Health Organization (WHO).

According to the organization, the number of infections on the African continent is 303,371, while the death toll is 7,999.

The largest number of cases was recorded in South Africa (97,302) and Egypt (53,758). Most deaths were recorded in Egypt (2,106), South Africa (1,930), and Algeria (845).
