YEREVAN. – After an accident at Fukushima Armenia revalued security level of the Metsamor NPP and is ready to receive experts of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan told RFE/RL.
“Energy Minister and all the departments were instructed to revise security rules taking into account events in Japan,” he said.
Tigran Sargsyan said that IAEA mission will conduct stress testing to reveal strengths and weaknesses of the Armenian NPP.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, Operational Safety Review Team (OSART) will visit Armenia on May 16 to monitor security of the Armenian NPP.
Last month Ashot Martirosyan, Head of the Nuclear Safety Committee, Government of Armenia, said that after the Fukushima nuclear accidents, EU member-states have been offered to conduct serious safety tests at their NPPs.
