According to Armenian News-NEWS.am, an Armenian man of Greek descent, who resides in a district of the Armenian city of Gyumri, tried to commit suicide by hanging himself from a tree in one of the fields near Gharibjanyan village of Shirak Province of Armenia today.

The man’s wife prevented him from committing suicide, after which the man was transferred to Gyumri Medical Center in an ambulance truck.

Deputy Director of Gyumri Medical Center Armen Khachatryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the young man is currently in critical condition at the intensive care unit.

Head of the News Department of the Police of Armenia Edgar Janoyan confirmed the news and reported that police had found out that the man had tried to commit suicide by hanging himself from a tree near Akhuryan River, but couldn’t since his wife had prevented the suicide attempt. Investigation is underway, and the circumstances are being clarified.
