Armenia intends to upgrade the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP) through its budgetary funds. This is what Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan told Interfax, responding to the question about the statement that the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Armenia made in June, stating that Moscow and Yerevan will continue to discuss the extension of the loan for upgrading the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant.
“In this regard, Armenia is considering the possibility of new loans, taking into consideration the fact that Armenia is upgrading the nuclear power plant with its own resources. Discussions are underway. Russia and Armenia have some interest and deep relations and the potential to reach an agreement,” Mnatsakanyan stated.
