Based on the information provided by the Ministry of Health, Iraq has recorded over 5,000 COVID-19 cases in the past day, RIA Novosti reports.

“In the past day, 5,036 Iraqis have been infected with COVID-19, 3,611 have recovered, 84 patients have died,” the ministry’s press release reads.

The highest number of cases were recorded in Baghdad (1,300 cases).

Thus, Iraq has 252,000 cases, and 495 patients are at intensive care units.

In late August, Minister of Health Hassan al-Tamimi said Iraq is ready to collaborate with any country that produces a COVID-19 vaccine.
