Armenian Americans value Ambassador Yovanovitch’s service in Armenia, and wish her all the best as she takes on new responsibilities in U.S. diplomatic corps, said Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) Aram Hamparian.

Asked by Armenian News-NEWS.am to comment on Yovanovitch’s tenure, Hamparian stressed that it was marked by “cuts in U.S. aid, continued inaction on bilateral trade, and, perhaps most notably, intense pressure by Washington upon Yerevan to accept the reckless, one-sided Turkey-Armenia Protocols”.

“While each and every Ambassador that has served in Yerevan has certainly had his or her own style and personality, in the end, these envoys are - as I think they would want to be - judged by their accomplishments in advancing American moral values on issues ranging from human rights and democracy to self-determination and genocide prevention, as well as on their ability to deliver concrete progress in promoting U.S. interests in stronger, more vital and broad-based U.S.-Armenia bilateral political, military, and, in particular, economic relationships,” he added.
