YEREVAN. - Prior to the Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents’ meeting in Kazan, the Azerbaijani side is trying to present its position as constructive. However, Azerbaijani officials’ statements during the recent days indicate that Aliyev will go to Kazan meeting not to come to a certain agreement, MP of NKR National Assembly Vahram Atanesyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to him, statements by Azerbaijani officials at different levels are made for propaganda purposes.

Referring to the statements on withdrawal of Armenian troops from the security zone around Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Atanesyan noted that the content of these statements point out that Azerbaijan’s leadership has no clear vision of the current situation and understanding the meaning of the Deauville statement.

“The statement calls on the conflicting parties to agree on basic principles. We are talking about the concept, rather than specific steps. Azeri officials’ statements suggest that everything is agreed and it is necessary to proceed to the “withdrawal of troops”. This is not a serious approach. Azerbaijan conducts artillery preparations to conceal its  counterproductive stance,” Atanesyan emphasized
