YEREVAN.- Armenian women should be more engaged in business, newly elected chairman of Armenia’s Republican Union of Employers Gagik Makaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
He believes Armenian women are more educated, but their position in society is inferior to that of men. Besides, men are emigrating, while women become breadwinners of the family.
It is the reason the Union is currently developing a program to encourage women’s involvement in business.
“There are few women in Armenia’s business. There are 5-6,000 thousand women managers, but the number of women who founded a company does not exceed 130,” he added.
