The World Health Organization (WHO) notes a slowdown in the spread of coronavirus, but believes it is necessary to continue to take measures to prevent infection. This was stated at a briefing by WHO expert Maria van Kerkhoven, Verietyinfo reported.

“We are really seeing a decrease in the number of detected cases per day and this is really good news. This is due to a number of factors and primarily due to the measures taken by countries to break the chain of transmission of the virus and prevent infection of other people,” she said.

According to her, the states’ actions in informing the population about the necessary measures to protect against infection, training of medical workers and efforts within vaccination campaigns also play an important role.

Kerkhoven urged countries with declining numbers to continue to take action against the pandemic. According to her, they are now going through a critical stage.
