The estate managers of late financier Jeffrey Epstein, accused of juvenile harassment, are considering selling two of his islands to raise funds to compensate his victims, CNN reported.
According to him, many people are interested in acquiring two properties on these islands.
A special fund, established on June 25, 2020, allocated $ 49.8 million to the victims of Epstein. Property managers suspended compensation payments due to lack of funds until March 25.
The financier lived for over 20 years in the US Virgin Islands and owned two small islands within this US territory. The appraised value of this property fell from about $ 630 million in June 2020 to almost $ 241 million on December 31, 2020.
Epstein was arrested in July 2019. Prosecutors said there was evidence that in 2002-2005 he organized visits to his home in Manhattan for dozens of underage girls, the youngest of whom was 14 years old. The criminal prosecution of the financier was ended in the United States after his death in a prison cell in August 2019. The investigation considered the death a suicide.
