YEREVAN. – During Tuesday’s hearing of the criminal case against Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan and several other former senior officials, Erik Aleksanyan, the lawyer of former Deputy Prime Minister—and defendant—Armen Gevorgyan, motioned to reschedule this court session.

The attorney said that his client's health had deteriorated and that he may have the coronavirus. He informed that Gevorgyan had been tested for COVID-19 and the court will be informed once the test results came in.

The prosecution, however, considered it necessary to doubt the veracity of this claim, and expressed dissatisfaction.

Presiding Judge Anna Danibekyan asked the lawyer why the respective epicrisis had not been submitted to the court.

In response, the attorney assured that all the documents will be submitted at the next court hearing.

The court adjourned and set the next hearing for March 9.
