If Armenia’s authorities had a sense of dignity, they should have committed suicide after signing the trilateral statement on Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)]. Second president Robert Kocharyan stated this at Thursday’s press conference for Russian media, Sputnik-Armenia reports.

"On November 10, the [Armenian] authorities should have gone on their knees and apologized to the people. And if they had dignity, they would have committed suicide," Kocharyan said.

According to him, if the current Armenian authorities truly thought about the country, they would give up their powers to those who are capable of negotiating. "Of course we do not like the agreement. But to have a good agreement, you have to win, or at least not lose the wars. The signed document is written on one and a half pages. Such issues are not solved in one and a half pages. We have to work out many documents on separate details," Kocharyan said.

According to him, the incumbent Armenian authorities, however, cannot do that—either intellectually, or professionally, or morally. "The current government of Armenia cannot hold dignified talks on the Karabakh issue," Robert Kocharyan added.
