Turkish Prime Minister and Chairman of ruling “Justice and Development” party handed in resignation to Turkish President Abdullah Gul, local mass media reported referring to the presidential press service.
Erdogan will serve acting head of the government until a new cabinet is formed.
Turkey’s ruling party won a third term in parliamentary elections on Sunday. Erdogan’s party won 50% of the votes, Republican People’s Party had 26% of the vote and Nationalist Action Party had 13%. Erdogan will enter the new parliament with 326 deputies.
