My statement on the vandalism at the Alley of Armenian Benefactors in Yerevan can be considered a report on crime. This is what Deputy Minister of Diaspora of Armenia, literary critic Serzh Srapionyan told reporters today.

According to him, the one to blame is Yerevan Municipality, which continues to fail to take any action for the protection of not only the Alley of Armenian Benefactors, but also other monuments in the city.

Srapionyan stated that the crime was committed near the building of the National Security Service, but the officers hadn’t even noticed it. “Law-enforcement officers must launch a criminal case, and Yerevan Municipality must restore the broken monuments, taking into consideration it has money to import buses,” the ex-deputy minister said, adding that the crime was committed by professionals, who organized the crime meticulously and robbed buses that will probably be sold abroad.
