YEREVAN. - The head of psychological expertise department of Armenian National Expertise Bureau Meline Petrosyan spoke about the findings of research on psychological factors of crime among adolescents at a press conference on Thursday.

The study conducted in 2010-2011 involved 100 youngsters, including convicts from Yerevan and regions. The findings emphasized two major factors stimulating crime - aggression and selfishness. As a rule, aggressive actions stem from the inability to find constructive solutions to problems.

The expert reminded that youngsters do not have fully established system of values and perceptions of good and bad. The system of values is directly related to person’s upbringing. The main role here belongs to the family, school and social institutions. Currently studies on the impact of media on value formation are being conducted.
