YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd daily of Armenia writes: National Assembly independent MPs Taguhi Tovmasyan, Sofia Hovsepyan and Anna Grigoryan have come up with a new legislative initiative and put into circulation the bill on making an amendment to the law On Social Assistance to Border Communities.

The reasoning states that the state must 100% guarantee the sale of the agricultural products of border communities.

“(…). Lands quite close to the enemy [i.e., Azerbaijan] need to be 100% cultivated. The resident of the border community needs to know that the state stands with him and thinks about him in this difficult situation," the MPs note in the rationalization of the draft.

Thus, after the adoption of the draft, new—guaranteed—opportunities for social assistance will be provided to the residents of the border communities of Armenia, the social problems of our compatriots engaged in agriculture will be alleviated, the economic and financial conditions of the border communities will be improved, the employment of local people will be stimulated, as well as the draft will contribute to the inclusion into production of the arable lands and other types of lands that are left out of agricultural circulation and not cultivated.
