YEREVAN.- A joint program launched by the EU and the Council of Europe “Promoting Freedom, Professionalism and Pluralism of the Media in the South Caucasus and Moldova” is launched in Armenia, said Lejla Dervisagic, advisor in the Council of Europe media department.
The activities supported by the program are expected to bring closer the regulatory framework for freedom of expression and for media in line with European standards and ensure that journalists better understand their rights, respect ethical rules and are trained to exercise their work professionally.
Speaking of legislative changes in Armenia, Dervisagic hailed positive decriminalization of libel.
In his turn, representative of the EU delegation to Armenia, Jean-Christophe Gayrand stressed the importance of changes in the law on mass media.
