US Climate Envoy John Kerry is heading to China to negotiate between the world's two largest carbon emitters ahead of the Leaders Summit on Climate, AP reported.

Kerry will visit Shanghai and Seoul from Wednesday to Saturday. The former secretary of state is expected to speak with China's leading climate negotiator Xie Zhenhua.

Biden has invited 40 world leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, to attend the virtual climate summit on April 22-23. The United States and other countries are expected to announce more ambitious national carbon reduction targets ahead of or during the meeting, as well as pledge financial aid for less wealthy countries to combat climate change.
