YEREVAN.- Armenia registered an unprecedented level of economic activity in May, said chairman of the Parliament Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs Gagik Minasyan.

According to him, a new important tendency was revealed - industry has become the driving force of Armenia’s economy. In particular, industry growth made 25%. Industry growth is diversified, and is not based solely on the mining industry, as previously. Growth has been recorded in food, pharmacology and other industries.

Minasyan says the diversification makes Armenia’s economy more resistant to international shocks, from which the country is not safe.

The MP forecasts economic growth in Armenia will reach 5%.
