YEREVAN. - Nagorno-Karabakh has never been a part of independent Azerbaijan, Armenian military expert David Jamalyan told a press conference today.
Two independent states, Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh Republic formed after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the expert stressed. Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity does not have the slightest relation to Nagorno-Karabakh,” he noted. In this respect, the expert recalled a number of new states formed after World War II and the issue of territorial integrity was not discussed. Jamalyan emphasized Azerbaijan’s aspiration to present Karabakh conflict as a dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan, whereas Nagorno-Karabakh is an entity and Armenia is the guarantor of security for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
