YEREVAN. – Armenia faces insufficient struggle against prostitution, which is mainly connected to legislation, chief of Armenian police Alik Sargsyan told the journalists on Thursday.

Chief police noted that current penalty for prostitution set by legislation is AMD 1000-1500 ($3-$5), which is too little to regulate the situation. Moreover, no prophylactic measures are implemented to shift the situation. Sargsyan told that police intend to come up with legislative initiative and offer the parliament to strengthen administrative penalties.
