YEREVAN. - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s speech to PACE was highly conceptual and answered all possible questions on domestic and external policies, press secretary of ruling Republican Party, MP Eduard Sharmazanov told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
According to him, Serzh Sargsyan emphasized that as a part of Europe Armenia is ready for consecutive implementation of all reforms necessary to reach a far more complete integration into European family.
“Current policy of Armenian authorities, their readiness for constructive dialogue with the opposition and their drive for establishing an atmosphere of tolerance in the country has been highly appraised by PACE officials,” said Sharmazanov.
The press secretary said that Serzh Sargsyan made another step towards international recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), marking that Karabakh is also a part of Europe.
“The president alluded that European Institutions should work directly with Karabakh,” he added.
He also noted that Serzh Sargsyan, referring to the Karabakh issue, emphasized that Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh are building a democratic society, where security rests solely on the basis of law enforcement structures, as it is customary in developed countries.
"Meanwhile, Azerbaijan is building militarized state, as it was inherent in the fascist regimes of Hitler and Mussolini. However, history has shown that such regimes are doomed to failure," stressed Sharmazanov.
