Results of Armenian-Azerbaijani president’s summit in Kazan are disappointing as they did not meet expectations, executive director of the British NGO LINKS Dennis Sammut told Trend agency.

“The negotiations however have not collapsed and the sides note some progress on the issues under consideration, and indicate that they remain committed to the peace process,” Trend quotes the expert.

According to him, the discussions will continue in the near future.

The meeting of Armenian, Azerbaijani held on the initiative of Russian leader Dmitry Medvedev took place in Kazan on Friday.

The sides failed to agree on Basic principles of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement despite the calls of OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing states Russia, U.S. and France.

In a statement issued after the meeting the presidents noted “the achievement of mutual understanding on a number of issues. Solution of these issues contributes to creating conditions for the approval of the basic principles.”
