YEREVAN.- In case of fair parliamentary elections, Prosperous Armenia party will win with majority of votes, said head of analytical center on Globalization and Regional Cooperation Stepan Grigoryan.

He stressed that the Republican Party enjoys low public confidence because of dissatisfaction with the existing socio-economic situation.

“Therefore, if the parliamentary elections in Armenia are not rigged, Prosperous Armenia is likely to poll more votes than the Republican Party. Fair elections are in Armenia’s interests, as in this case the country will get out from international pressure,” the expert told journalists on Monday.

According to him, the main battle will unfold not between the government and the opposition but within the ruling forces.

In the context of interesting foreign policy carried out by President Serzh Sargsyan and domestic policy aimed at easing political tension, people will hardly vote for the opposition, the expert added.

Grigoryan considers that opposition parties – ARF Dashnaktsutyun and Heritage are also likely to gain seats in the parliament.
