YEREVAN.- The harvest season for apricots started in Armenia. The main importers of Armenian apricots are Georgia and Russia.

Fifteen percent is exported to Georgia and the rest– to Russia. Apricot wholesale price makes about $ 1.5 per kilo.

This year Armenia is expected to have the largest crop over last three years as farmers plan to harvest 120 tons.

“The export has doubled as compared to the last year reaching 1,700 tons. I think it is explained by the fact that export of agricultural products is exempt from VAT, and Armenian apricots are incredibly popular,” said Deputy Agriculture Minister Robert Makaryan.
