The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has registered a record for the duration and extent of lightning.

As follows from the organization's message on Twitter, the longest lightning was recorded on April 29, 2020 over the southern coast of the United States, it stretched for 768 kilometers.

The longest lightning itself was recorded near the border of Uruguay and Argentina on June 18, 2020, the duration was 17.102 seconds.
