The EU Research and Innovation Framework 2021-2027 is a continuation of the Horizon 2020 framework, Armenian Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic Artur Martirosyan said on Wednesday.

Armenia's participation in the program, he said, began in 2016.

"The Horizon 2020 program has made a great contribution to the development of the scientific sphere in Armenia and provided many opportunities to participate in various grant initiatives. Within the framework of the program with the participation of the scientific community of Armenia, 312 applications were submitted, of which 271 were accepted, and 35 received funding,” Martirosyan said.

According to the document, representatives of the scientific circles of Armenia will have the right to take advantage of fairly broad opportunities provided by the largest EU scientific cooperation program, the total cost of which will be 95.5 million euros.

“It is expected that participation in the program will become an additional incentive for the development of the national research system of Armenia, will contribute to the further integration of Armenian scientists into the European scientific space, and will expand the possibilities of using the scientific infrastructures of the EU member states,” the Deputy Minister noted.
