ANKARA. – The Turkish authorities will today begin consultations with the country’s military leadership on possible candidates for the posts of a new Chief of General Staff and commanders replacing the retired. According to Ekho Moskvy, General Necdet Ozel will be appointed Chief of Turkish General Staff on Monday.

As reported earlier, Chief of General Staff of Turkish Armed Forces Isik Kosaner handed in resignation on July 29 following a private meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
